What a cookie is
A cookie is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored on your computer by your web browser while you are browsing. When you visit a site that uses cookies for the first time, a cookie is downloaded onto your computer or mobile device so that the next time you visit, the site can remember useful information — pages you have seen, or the fact that you are signed in.
A persistent cookie stays on your device after you close your browser, so it can be read again on a later visit. A session cookie is temporary and disappears when you close your browser. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, and most sites rely on them.
What this website uses
This one does not. Tressaron’s website sets no cookies at all — no first-party cookies, no analytics cookies, no advertising or tracking cookies. It also makes no requests to any third-party domain: no external fonts, scripts, maps, videos or embedded widgets. Nothing here follows you to another site, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
- We store one item in your browser’s session storage, under the name “tressaron:intro”. It records that you have already seen the opening animation, so it does not replay on every page you open. It holds no personal information, it is deleted the moment you close the tab, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.
- If you submit the enquiry form on our Contact page, your browser posts it to this site’s own server, which emails it on to us. That request happens only when you press send, and it sets no cookie.
We do not collect your IP address for analytics, and we do not measure page views, sessions or any other traffic metric on this site.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Most web browsers let you restrict or block cookies through their settings, and can tell you when a cookie is being sent. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies, and persistent cookies can be removed by following your browser’s instructions.
On many websites, disabling cookies will stop parts of the site working. On this one it will make no difference, because we are not using them — everything here will continue to work with cookies switched off entirely.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or anything else that needs cookies, we will update this page before it goes live and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
For how we handle the information you do send us, please read our Privacy Policy.
